This 75 year history of St Joseph’s Primary School could not have been written without community support and the many contributions that came our way. Our thanks go to those who shared their memories with us during interviews: Marita Crilly, Terry Fowler, Carmel Galea, Yvonne Guziak, Frances Hall, Anne Hibbert, Dianne Hopley, Margaret Leahy, Jill McKernan, Marg Miller, June Pereira, Alicia Pereyra, Val Poskus, Teresa Rechichi and Denise Ryan. Thank you also to John Campbell, Allan Dooley, Trudy Maiden, Vicki Buzelin and Anthony Smith for sharing items from their personal collections.

We have been guided by Richard Hodgson and members of the steering committee who offered feedback and direction, and staff in the school library who provided access to the school image collection. We are grateful to the Brigidine Sisters at the Kildara Centre, Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions, and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Perth for helping with our research. Thank you also to Father Benedict La Volpe and staff in the parish office and the Springvale Historical Society for providing images from their collections.

Our thanks are extended to Lynda Patullo at Green Poles Design, whose creative skills transformed our manuscript into a beautiful book, to Lisa Mayo at Sauced Out for creating this wonderful website, and to our colleague and ‘historian in residence’, Sarah Rood for her support and encouragement.

It has been a privilege to write the history of the first 75 years of St Joseph’s Primary School. It is wonderful to see the St Joseph’s community embrace their history, and for us to experience – as have generations of students, parents and teachers – the kind and generous spirit of the St Joseph’s family.
